42-39 Ohio State wins! ...a rematch???
Well we did it.
Now that the national championship is settled, who will the Buckeyes play for the ceremonial championship?
An SEC team would simply be a pathetic game, but if so Arkansas would be better off than Florida. Notre Dame shouldn't even be in the top ten and if given an opportunity we'll wipe the floor with them once again. USC is OK -- we (OSU) should have played them last year in place of Texas -- so that seems like a good choice, and a good game. The most controversial possibility is simply a rematch of the two top teams; Ohio State and Michigan. I'm all for that.
It's close. With Meatchicken's season over, and USC's schedule two weeks younger, it's all on USC.
On a side note, MSNBC's David Shuster, after this bit of wishful thinking,
Because even though Michigan is the far superior football team, and despite the fact that most Buckeyes will eventually work for a Wolverine some day... ... To all of my kind-hearted Buckeye friends: enjoy your incredible stadium, turn up the noise when Michigan has the ball, be proud of the pageantry and revel in the fine play of your No. 1-ranked football team. But on Saturday, after the dust has settled and the whistle has been called, take it easy when "The Victors" is ringing in your ears. Because remember, the Rose Bowl is not such a bad consolation prize. Michigan 28, Ohio State 24.
P.S.: The views in this column do not reflect the views or opinions of NBC, MSNBC or any of the OSU grads who work for me.
P.S.S.: If I'm wrong and Ohio State beats Michigan, I will print out this column and eat it. And as proof, I'll photograph that act and post the pictures in "Hardblogger." In the meantime, Go Blue! David kept his word (visit to watch the video):
I am a man of my words, so today I ate them. It was not a pleasant experience. But, losing to OSU wasn’t exactly pleasant either. None the less, I salute the Buckeye faithful on your victory.
